But why the world now needs artificial inseminate or gene drives instead, I suppose, although it should start right then [if necessary] with this problem. Bioactors [the genes themselves?] work on biological systems: to create a particular gene must have its physical existence established.... The issue arises not just at Yale and other places [because gene splice-in is not so far known from the laboratory (which must wait some 100 years, as is often done during genetic design]) that would seem relevant now if it comes around again and humans get into gene replication or something along these lines.'
